A really special encounter

A park where deer roam free

Did you know that deer are the symbol of the Paneveggio-Pale di San Martino Natural Park? This is because several herds live here in an enclosed area. Accustomed as they are to the presence of visitors, they sometimes get close to the enclosure, or you can watch them from the observation point.

In winter too

Deer don't go into hibernation, their metabolism slowing down so they can survive the colder months. This means you might also spot them even while it's snowing.

Vantage points

You can watch these massive ungulates from close range from a large enclosure. In addition, a nature trail starts at the visitor’s centre featuring observation points complete with images and informative panels.

Deer are night creatures

Whether in winter or in the summer, it isn't rare to spot deer under the moonlight or when our flashlights illuminate the woods and we notice their eyes, which acquire the typical yellow colour.
